Lessard Outdoors Fly-In Fishing Info
We are blessed to have an extremely healthy population of walleye, lake trout, northern, and smallmouth bass in the lake. Walleyes are generally shallower in spring/early summer moving out to deeper reefs as the summer progresses. Lake trout generally run in the 5-12 pound class with several in the teens and twenties each summer. Several methods of lake trout fishing include long lining from shore, jigging, and the use of downriggers make this fish fun to catch. Fishing for small mouth may entail top water baits, crank baits, and even fly-fishing. Fly fishing for smallmouth has become a favorite challenge for many guests in recent years at our lodge. These fast action and high flying bass are sure to give you a great fight. Trout Lake has an abundant amount of large northern most of which are caught by accident while fishing for walleye or lake trout in deeper water. However, for fast action mid-sized northern casting 6-12 foot weed beds can provide for great action as well.
At our lodge, we practice a catch and release policy in order to preserve the resource for not only our lifetime, but future generations. Conservation fishing licenses ensure that populations will not be overstressed and that exceptional fishing can be enjoyed by all year after year. Fresh, prepackaged walleye fillets can be arranged for pick up in International Falls, Minnesota upon your return for a delicious fish fry for family and friends to enjoy back home.
For those of with an even greater sense of adventure to offer afternoon trips into two additional lakes that our lodge has access to. These lakes are only several miles in diameter, with no structures, and are reached after a very short walk on trails through the bush. In boats previously placed here by us, you can enjoy fast action catch and release walleye and northern fishing, or take your chance at landing a trophy smallmouth. It’s up to you!
